Jane Material & More Rehearsals!

This week, our vocalists started introducing some 'Jane' material they have been working on. They wanted to represent 'Jane' and her feelings by using their vocals, as all the vocalists are females. After the first rehearsal with the vocalists, we all started giving them different feedback to ensure that the instruments and vocals complement each other. Meanwhile, I was thinking of how I could use my decks to emulate different locations, as I felt like I did not have enough variety in sounds and sometimes my sounds became repetitive. I started discussing with Simon how I could replicate Caligari's Room by using boiling water, candles, or light static, or the asylum by having many different people talking at the same time to the point where it becomes blurry. I kept thinking about various ideas and scenarios where I could implement different sound effects without overpowering the performance, while maintaining a steady, ambient, and droning flow.

Wednesday, we focused on 'Act 4' and as usual, we went over it once and then started discussing and analysing what went right and what went wrong. This is a very intense act, Jane plays big part of it! There was also the scene where the sonambulist nearly killed Jane. The chase scene is what we struggled with playing, but we kept going over it until we got onto a solid point. Overall, in my opinion this is one of the most important and intense acts and we all have to rehearse and practice until we nail it!
